Sayonara Serena!

Due to my niggling anxieties about copy right infringement, I am in the process of changing the label over to my own name. This means from now onwards (aside from a few shoots yet to be released that were shot previously to this decision being made) SERENA van der WOODSEN will now be known as Charlotte Webb. It's a little scary being out from behind an alias but honestly I'm just not creative enough/too lazy to think of anything else that I feel like I won't start hating tomorrow. Plus let's face it, Serena is kind of a pain.
So I'll be seeing all of you who don't read this here and here.
And I can be contacted at charlotte.c.webb@hotmail.com

x

PS. Please vote for me for the General Pants Bubble Competition ( I realise it's more costume-y than fashion design but y'know close enough and maybe if I win I'll make some real fashion?)

Post Post

So, I'm still around. Just insanely busy with way too many things to do than there are hours to do them.

I took the plunge and got an industrial machine which is probably one of the best investments I've ever made. Plus as well as being 349588743597 times more efficient than my previous hunk o junk, it's incredibly fun to use, has it's own little motor and is probably the closest experience I'll ever have to driving a car.

SERENA van der WOODSEN has made an appearance on a few things on the web over the last little while so I thought I'd post some links:

The opening of the exhibition went quite well and there was a decent turn out so that was good. The photo's came out beautifully and I think and Sarah's desired aesthetic really shone through. The window display featuring my first ever body suit will be up for the next two week (the photo exhibit a bit longer) so drop by and have a look if you're in the 'hood.

In other news I really am going to try and get my act together...I think. Friends and strangers alike have been really supportive so I think it could be worth the effort or at least a worthwhile distraction from my horrible job. At the same time I feel like I could throw it all in tomorrow...So hold onto your hats folks, you never know what could happen.

Floral Leggings

Hello,

I didn't know how else to do it, so I ended up putting the final pair of floral leggings on ebay.

They are simply the best (better than all the rest) and I wish more than anything that I could make more but the fabric simply doesn't exist.
(If anybody reading this is "in-the-know" and knows where I can get some more I'll give you my first born)

pppsssssssttttt!!!

Got more new fabric today and you're just going to have to take my word for it that it's pretty great stuff because baaasically I cbf uploading pictures right now. However you might be seeing it sooner rather than later in a brand new stockist in the city ^___^ ...but that's a story for a another day.
Alternatively you'll be able to see (& buy) some at the Camberwell Market on Sunday 11th of May (Bring yer Mum):

After a few weeks  of tracing and trimming and overlocking and re-tracing and french-curves and trimming and pinning my latest leotard pattern pattern is looking like a winner, I just got a nine to fiver so I'm a bit strapped for time this week but hopefully the first few will be ready for the market. Fingers crossed.

It's been quite the week so I'm gonna go catch some z's.

New Stuff

The colours are a bit off because I think there's a big smudge on my camera lens here's some samples of what's to come...

black lycra with silver foil polka-dot print
sheer zig zag stretch mesh
black holographic PVC
I've been eyeing this stuff off for ages now, but haven't been able to justify spending the $$ for it. I gave in and it's preetee amazing stuff.

grey velvet (colour is a bit different IRL)
midnight blue velvet (colour is a bit different IRL)

I really wanted to get purple velvet as well but none of the shades were eggplant-y enough. It's out there though, it's just a bit of an effort to get. One day...

plus I've re-stocked on black PVC, black velvet, black wet-look sparkly lycra and black web netting so there'll be lots of black to get you through the cold Melbourne winter months.

Kids in Berlin Too

Here's a photo  from another Kids in Berlin photoshoot, featuring the Deep Silver leggings. This one was done by Matt Solomon the other night running around on Smith St trying not to get hit (on) by cars/trams/sleazy old men.

Kids in Berlin

Here's a couple of photos for Kids in Berlin e-newsletter we did the other day with the much appreciated talent, cooperation and patience of Hubert and Sophie van Doorn.
Sophie wears Bul Blouse, Fool Woolen Dress, Love Sausage Dog Brooch & SERENA van der WOODSEN Black velvet leggings.

Sophie wears Limedrop Dress, Oh Fiddlesticks! Necklace and SERENA van der WOODSEN Black Leather-Look PVC Leggings.

There are lots of photos to come really soon of actual legs in leggings. Plus perhaps even some leotards in the not to distant future as I've started working on some toiles.

BACK IN ACTION

I got my sewing machine back off Nick today so I can finally do something with the mountain of fabric and half made leggings that is now higher than my desk. I also got a bunch of twin needles off him for $5.60 each(!!!!...this is really cheap compared to the $10 plus you have to fork out for them at places like lincraft and spot light, a pricey expense when I break them more frequently than I break my nails.)
Here's some pictures of some of the new fabric I've got, except for the the cream acrylic I think I'm going to cut a new pattern and do these all as stirrup leggings.

cream wooly acrylic

black sheer with raised felt-feel rose print

black lycra with honey comb gold holographic print

there's a bit more but I can't be bothered with that now.

the pattern grading for the stirrup leggings is different to the normal ones and it's really annoying because it means they're not as fitted and kind of look more like pants, which I think kind of works with the gold ones but not so much for the rest. so there's another set-back already, I have to make the patterns waaaaay smaller so they'll actually fit how they're meant to.

anyhow, back to work,

Hello

Good afternoon Upper-East-Siders(Everybody),

After receiving so much positive feedback through Myspace, I thought I'd begin a blog as a way of further sharing and involving people in the design/manufacturing process. Keeping things somewhat interactive has been an enjoyable and informative experience for me and seemingly for "You" also and I figure a blog is a more comprehensive and lasting means than just posting the occasional bulletin as it allows people browse and comment whenever the feeling strikes them.

Also the wet weather and my lack of driving ability leaves my busted sewing machine and I at home bored outta my brains until a kindly relative takes pity on me and takes me to Nick the sewing machine guy to get it fixed. (Nick has been in the game a long time and knows just everything you could ever need to know about sewing machines plus his shop is in Footscrazy which is really close by. So if your sewing machine ever breaks, Nick's your guy)

The rains died down now so I'm going to take this opportunity to escape for a bit but I'll be back later with fabric samples and other nice things for you to mull over.

P.S. Almost a whole month in, Autumn has finally decided to front up with some nice cold weather and now I can actually start wearing my leggings again! : )
